The View recently ran a story covering the many benefits of omega-3. While the piece does a good job showing the array of heart health promoting features of omega-3, and that fish such as salmon should be included in the American diet, the takeaway was that krill oil was a better choice to accomplish this than fish oil. Both krill and fish oil contain omega-3 fatty acids but on average krill oil contains substantially less. There’s some evidence that krill oil may be absorbed somewhat more efficiently (on a gram for gram omega-3 basis) than fish oil but the studies are not consistent. At a higher price point and substantially lower concentration of omega-3, be wary of krill oil claims before jumping on the bandwagon.
